What is it about VAMPIRES? All generations and time periods of history seem to keep this myth alive with the mystery, danger and yes romance of the vampire being. Are they a figment of a ‘writer’s’ imagination? Are they possibly REAL? Immortality of their nature with in a way, being out of the time cycles we are living within is one aspect to this lore. IF they are REAL, when they do find their mate, they are like BLACK SWANS, taking them for Life. My question remains after much research…DO VAMPIRES Really exist?
I believe so and feel they walk among us. It’s possible some of the BEST VAMPIRE and Immortal stories are about ‘real characters’. Anne Rice and her books on ‘them’ very much felt REAL. I’m under the same sense that in some of my writing these enigmatic characters are ‘real’ and in another dimension.
When I travel to another country, in places like Paris or London, there was a distinct ‘feeling’ of my sensing them. My city of San Francisco also has the vibe that makes you note they are there. TWILIGHT grabbed me too as Edward always seemed ‘real’ to me as the reader and the film observer.
Paris mid 1700’s the aristocratic SALONS in France had vampires among them. Lifestyles with courtly times did too. Venice, Italy still remains a place of history for them in the fabric of many periods there. However, the Romania countries had folklore that was steeped in their period of superstition. France never saw the vampires as that.
